Adrenaline Scope

Know your genre before you spend a year building in it. Every Steam indie release from the last 12 months, including the ones nobody noticed.

Free. We ask for your e-mail for one reason: Scope updates about once a month and older builds stop working, so you need to know when a new one is out. No account, no telemetry, one click to unsubscribe, and we never pass your address on.

What it looks like

Scope, overview tab with review distribution and the top releases of a genre

What it answers

Is this genre worth entering?

How many games shipped in it over the last year, and what share of them was ever noticed at all.

When should I release?

Month-by-month release counts for your genre, so you can step out of the crowd instead of into it.

What should I charge?

Five price bands compared by how often games in each one got past ten reviews.

Early Access, help or hurt?

Early Access releases and full releases side by side, inside your genre. Nobody publishes this number.

How does my plan look?

Enter your price, release model and target month. Scope compares the plan with every game that actually shipped, and shows how it got there.

Who am I up against?

The closest competition by genre and price, each title one click from its Steam page.

The indie market, last 12 months

···releases tracked
···passed 10 reviews
···got zero reviews
···median price

These four numbers come from the same API the app uses, so they can never drift from what Scope shows you.

How it works

Scope predicts nothing. It compares your plan with games that already shipped on Steam. Review count is the yardstick instead of revenue, because Steam publishes it honestly for every game, and since roughly 2 to 5% of buyers leave a review, ten reviews is the line below which a game was effectively never noticed.

Releases younger than 30 days are left out of every percentage, because a game from last week has not had time to collect reviews. Older games whose Steam release date was refreshed, usually on leaving Early Access, are left out too: they are not new releases and would distort everything.

All collecting and counting happens on our server, so the app answers instantly, weighs under two megabytes and never talks to Steam from your machine.

Honest notes

Windows will warn you on first run. The installer is not code-signed yet, so SmartScreen shows its blue “unrecognized app” dialog. Click More info → Run anyway, or verify the checksum below first. We would rather say this up front than pretend it will not happen.

Scope needs Microsoft Edge WebView2, which ships with Windows 11 and with every updated Windows 10. If it is missing, the installer fetches it.
